He states that the FBI and DOJ need to be “near each other.”
President Donald Trump stated during an address at the Department of Justice this month that he would stop the plan to relocate the Federal Bureau of Investigation from the District of Columbia into Maryland.
While the General Services Administration chose Greenbelt, Maryland, for the new FBI headquarters and Congress allocated hundreds of millions for the project, the president said that the FBI and DOJ “have to be near each other.” The new location is roughly an hour’s drive from the nation’s capital.
President Trump said, “Not going to let that happen. We’re going to build another big FBI building right where it is, which would have been the right place.”
Members of Congress from Maryland as well as state officials expressed their commitment to the headquarters being built in Greenbelt as planned.
